The Final Post...

I just wanted to say "THANK YOU" to the small, but I am sure very good looking, number of folks who visited this blog over the past several months. As this is the last week before 26.2 With Donna, I will--like Mitt Romney--be "suspending" this Blog for the foreseeable future.

On a more serious note, those of you who are running either in Jacksonville or Rochester in the support of breast cancer research have gotten another punch in your ticket to heaven. I once heard a cancer survivor say something to the effect that he was tired of being called a "hero". He said there was nothing heroic about developing cancer. The real heroes, he said, are the medical researchers, physicians and other providers who were responsible for his survival. Then he said, but even those folks do the wonderful work they do because it is their job. The super heroes are the "civilians" who on their own go above and beyond to raise money for medical research. He cited those people who participate in Team in Training, the Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk for the Cure and similar events as selfless individuals who challenge themselves in order to support the fight against cancer and other devastating diseases.

As a participant in either the 26.2 With Donna or the Lace Up Against Breast Cancer events, you are part of that super-hero crowd that truly makes a difference in the life of others. And you should feel very, very good about that.

The Final Run...

Well this is it. This Saturday is the final training run before the marathon. We will be meeting at Dunn Brother's (north) at 7:30 AM and do about 10.75 (see route below).

Just a note to say thanks to all who joined us this "Off Season"--it was fun to see so many of you show up. A special thank you to the Jacksonville runners, not only for your participation in the training, but also supporting the important cause of breast cancer research. I only wish we had a better winter to train in, but it was what it was.

The RAC/RTC training runs start February 23rd. For more information go to www.rochestertrackclub.com.

Have a great rest of the winter!
